Fish City roundup
Go today, skip Sunday's blow
October 9, 2026
Wind sits at 9 out of the NW and swell runs 4.6 feet out of the SW at Point Loma, a clean combo that keeps today a GO. That window closes fast this weekend, with Sunday's swell jumping toward 10 feet and wind near 31, so get out while the water is calm.
Rockfish are rebounding hard at 7.5 per angler, and yellowtail keep climbing at 1.2 per angler with wide fleet coverage. Bluefin tuna are also trending up at 0.6 per angler.
Fish the early major and work bottom structure for rockfish, then switch over to the yellowtail grade as the sun gets up. Leave before the 8:55 AM high to fish the last of the moving water.
