North Country Lures & Flies
About North Country Lures & Flies
North Country Lures & Flies is a two-person handcraft bench in Florence, Oregon — Dean and Pat Hendricks, both retired middle-school teachers who started fly-tying as a classroom hobby in the early 1970s. Dean previously ran North Country Guide Service on the Sacramento, Trinity, Smith, Klamath, Rogue, and Chetco rivers and Shasta Lake; the retail brand launched after retirement once anglers kept asking what was tied to his line.
Every lure is hand-poured, hand-tied, or hand-built one at a time and prototype-tested for action before going on sale. Signature designs include the Super Hoochie family (with French Blade and Designer Series variants), the Flying Harley, the Hex Spoon, Predator and Steele Spoons, the Magnum Salmon Whammy, and Trout Treats. Larger blade sizes are house philosophy.
A cut of every sale goes to Florence STEP and the Siuslaw Watershed Council. See the California tackle directory. See also: Umpqua Bait on Salmon Harbor and Garibaldi Charters Tackle on Tillamook Bay.
