If your landing posts fish counts, your boat is already on Fish City. This guide covers where those numbers come from, what anglers see on your page, how to put the same counts on your own website for free, and what changes when you claim the listing.
Where your counts come from
Fish City compiles the catch counts California boats file at their landings. When your landing publishes a trip, the trip lands on your boat's page, your landing's page, and the city page, and the pages refresh daily. We do not retype or edit dock reports. What the landing posted is what shows, with the report date on it.
If your boat fishes out of a landing that publishes counts and you do not see it here, tell us at team@fishcity.app with the landing and the boat name. Coverage grows landing by landing, and a note from an operator is how gaps get found.
What your page shows
- The week's counts, first. The total fish and trips over the last seven days sit at the top of the page and in the page title, so a search for your boat's name plus "fish counts" lands on the number.
- Recent trips. Every trip in the window with its date, trip type, angler count when the landing reported one, and the species list. Fish per angler shows where there is an angler count.
- Species by day. On landing and city pages, a table of species down the side and the last seven days across.
- Fish counts by year. Yearly totals with trips and top species, going back as far as we have your boat's or landing's data. The table names the date it starts, and that date differs from one boat or landing to the next.
When a boat has not reported, the page says that instead of showing old numbers as new. An active boat reads "Last trip reported" with the date. A boat that has been quiet for a while reads "No trips reported since" with the date. A boat we have never seen a count from reads "No fish counts on record." Anglers trust the pages because the pages do not pretend.
Put the counts on your own website, free
Every landing that publishes counts has a section on its Fish City page called "Put these counts on your website (free)." Open it, copy the snippet, and paste it into any page you control. It is a small frame that shows your landing's counts, updates daily, and links back to the full page. No account, no key, no fee.
The widget is per landing, not per boat, so a landing can put its whole fleet's counts on its own site with one paste. Under the pasted frame is a one-line credit link back to your landing's Fish City page. Leave it in; it is how anglers find the history and the rest of the fleet.
What claiming adds
Your counts and history are public whether or not you claim the listing. Claiming makes the page yours: your photos, your description, your booking link, and the parts of Fish City that need to know it is really you.
- Your Report Line calls published on Fish City under your boat.
- A site for your boat or landing on a fishcity.app address.
- Your counts and history here and in the app, with followers who get a push when a new count posts.
Claiming is free and there is no card. You do not need an account to send the request; we create one when we confirm it is you. Start from the "Claim this listing" bar on your boat or landing page, or go straight to the claim form.
