Tackle Shops on the North Oregon Coast
4 shops — hours, live bait, and directions.

The North Oregon Coast runs from the Columbia River bar at Astoria down through Tillamook and Nehalem bays, and it is salmon, crab, and bottomfish country. The marquee fishery is Buoy 10 — the late-summer salmon run at the mouth of the Columbia near Astoria and Hammond, one of the biggest salmon fisheries on the West Coast. South of there, Tillamook Bay and Nehalem Bay are crab-and-salmon estuaries, with bottomfish and lingcod over the nearshore reefs out of the Garibaldi port whenever the ocean lays down.
The shops here reflect that. Big Game Fishing in Hammond (formerly Sturgeon Paul's) works the Buoy 10 crowd with bait, tackle, and on-site fish processing; Tackle Time near Warrenton is a seasonal bait-and-tackle counter for the same fishery. Down the coast, Garibaldi Marina on Tillamook Bay and Wheeler Marina on Nehalem Bay are full marina stores — bait, tackle, crab gear, rentals, and Oregon licenses. One thing to plan around: this coast runs on frozen and cured bait (herring, anchovy), not live, so call ahead if you need live bait.
