San Pedro sits at the mouth of Los Angeles Harbor, and its two tackle shops bracket the local fishery. At the water, 22nd Street Landing Tackle sits inside the 22nd Street Landing sportfishing operation at 141 W 22nd Street — a full-service landing whose tackle shop opens early with live bait, hooks, line, weights, and rod rentals for anglers headed to Catalina Island and the outer banks. A few blocks inland at 389 W 6th Street, LA Fishing Alliance is a full-service walk-in shop carrying saltwater and freshwater gear, with line spooling, custom rod building, rod-and-reel repair, fishing licenses, and frozen bait; it also hosts seminars and local tournaments. Between them, San Pedro anglers can book a boat and grab live bait at the landing, or shop a deep walk-in inventory and get gear serviced a short drive away. The Rusty Hook on Gaffey Street, a longtime San Pedro fixture, closed in early 2025.
San Pedro Bay is a year-round inshore fishery with a warm-season pelagic overlay. Anglers work the harbor rockpiles and the Horseshoe Kelp for calico bass, sand bass, and California halibut, with rockfish on the deeper structure. As the water warms from late spring into fall, yellowtail, white seabass, barracuda, and bonito move in, and the offshore boats run for bluefin and yellowfin tuna in summer and fall. The live bait the San Pedro fleet relies on comes from the harbor's bait receivers. San Pedro's party and charter boats run from 22nd Street Landing and LA Harbor Sportfishing.
