Hook Line & Sinker
About Hook Line & Sinker
Hook Line & Sinker opened in 1976, founded by Bill Sedar, and has been Santa Barbara's "only full-service tackle shop" — their words — through five decades of father-daughter handoffs: Sedar to his daughter Jean, then Yong Shin and his daughter Jeannie, then Capt. David Bacon and his daughter Capt. Tiffany Vague, and as of 2021, Ben Miller along with his daughter Kai and son-in-law Ian Wallace (per Noozhawk).
The shop's now at 2259 Las Positas Road, inland near the 101 and Las Positas Road junction (the older Calle Real address is stale). Service spans the Santa Barbara coverage triangle — long-range trips, channel fishing, surf and piers — plus Cachuma and Casitas bass-and-trout gear. Custom rod building, reel spooling, and custom rigging at the bench.
Hours: Tue-Sat 8:30-6, Sun 8:30-3, closed Monday. See the California tackle directory. See also: Stearns Wharf Bait & Tackle on the wharf and Channel Islands Sportfishing Tackle in Oxnard.
