Channel Islands Sportfishing Tackle

Channel Islands Sportfishing has been in the harbor at 4151 S Victoria in Oxnard since 1963 — the staging shop for the only fleet that runs sportfishing trips to Anacapa, Santa Cruz, and Santa Rosa Islands. The landing operates as a booking agent for eleven independently owned boats including the Mirage, Speed Twin, Coroloma, Aloha Spirit, Indicator, Island Fox, Island Tak, Orion, and the 85-foot Ranger.

The tackle counter leans heavy on Avet reels alongside Shimano, Penn, and Okuma, with live and frozen bait (squid, anchovies, sardines), lobster hoopnets, rod rentals, and California licenses on hand.

The landing is also an official IGFA weigh station — the Mirage's 67.3-pound California halibut, caught at Santa Rosa Island in 2011, was certified here as the world record on 25-pound mono.
