Eric's Tackle Shop

Eric's Tackle Shop has occupied Thompson Boulevard in Ventura since 1979, when Dick Moore opened it as Moore's Tackle. Eric Huff bought the shop in 1994, renamed it, and is still the owner-operator three decades later — about a mile and a half from Ventura Harbor and the Channel Islands sportfishing fleet.

Specialty leans both ways: West Coast big-game stand-up and rail-rod offshore fishing for tuna and yellowtail, plus the Channel Islands inshore program for calico bass, white seabass, and halibut. Custom rod building and rod-and-reel repair are named service lines; the shop also handles yacht fitting and lure rigging. Eric is a Pautzke dealer and the Ventura representative for Lyons & O'Haver Taxidermy.
