Pacific Coast Bait & Tackle

Hugh Cobb has run Pacific Coast Bait & Tackle out of 2110 S Coast Hwy in Oceanside since 1988, which makes it the longest-established tackle store in North County. The inventory leans toward destination outfitting more than walk-up-pier — Penn, Shimano, Daiwa rods and reels alongside gaffs, knives, boots, and tackle storage for anglers prepping for long-range boats out of San Diego or flying somewhere warm with a tackle bag.

The bench builds custom rods and runs reel service in-house (turnarounds run six to eight weeks). Live inventory includes bloodworms year-round — a regional surf-fishing standard that's not always easy to find. California and hunting licenses sold on-site.
