Puget Sound Fly Co.
About Puget Sound Fly Co.
Puget Sound Fly Shop opened in 2023 — Matt Klaiber, a USMC infantry veteran with six years at the original Puget Sound Fly Company before that shop closed in November 2022, rebuilt the local fly community at 6001 Tacoma Mall Boulevard with his father Jeff (USAF, retired HP after 35 years). The shop is family- and veteran-owned.
Head guide Giancarlo Lawrence is a Puget Sound native with 17 years' experience, specializing in trout and steelhead but with saltwater chops in Hawaii and Mexico. The rod and reel mix runs Sage, G. Loomis, Orvis, Simms, Smith, and Renzetti — the brand stack you'd build a Puget Sound 6-to-8-weight saltwater setup around.
One-on-one casting instruction is $80; one-on-one fly tying is $60, materials included. Beach clinics, kayak fishing classes, and hosted destination travel round out the schedule.
