Redondo Sportfishing Tackle
About Redondo Sportfishing Tackle
Redondo Sportfishing has been running boats out of King Harbor since 1956 — the same year Congress secured federal funding for the harbor itself. The five-boat fleet covers daily half-day public trips on the Redondo Special and Pescador, full and overnight runs on the Navegante (one of the few South Bay boats running multi-day trips), private 6-pack work on the 50-plus-year-old Betty G with Captain Anthony Le, and whale-watching plus burial-at-sea on the El Rey.
The on-site tackle counter handles rod rentals, fishing licenses, and trip-day terminal gear. April 2026 PM half-day counts on the Redondo Special read 167 rockfish, 161 whitefish, 46 reds, and 15 sheephead off one trip — a useful look at what comes off the local rocks.
The dedicated Redondo Sportfishing Pier (built 1969, closed unsafe 2017) is gone; the boats still go. See the California tackle directory. See also: 22nd Street Landing Tackle and LB Fishing Supplies in Long Beach.
