Argo Sportfishing runs a single six-pack charter out of Fisherman's Wharf, with the boat berthed at Pier 45 in the row near Alioto's and Fisherman's Grotto restaurants. Captain Craig Hanson is a fourth-generation San Franciscan and U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain with more than 45 years fishing Bay Area waters; he previously worked as an outdoor reporter for KRON-TV, producing the video series Hooked on Fishing the Golden Gate.

Fleet

The Argo is a 33-foot Crown Custom sportfishing vessel built in 1979, powered by a 250-HP Scania engine, with a wood-interior cabin, dinette, private flush toilet, and a 12-knot cruising speed. Licensed capacity is six anglers.

Trip types

Trips run year-round with summer targeting salmon, striped bass, rockfish, and halibut; winter shifting to sturgeon; and summer and fall adding catch-and-release leopard shark. 2026 pricing posted on the operator's FishingBooker listing: half-day (6 hours, 6 a.m. departure) $420 shared or $1,200 for a private charter; full-day (9 hours) $570 shared or $1,680 private; a dedicated salmon charter (9 hours) $640 shared or $1,920 private; and a seasonal 3/4-day crab trip in November–December at $570 shared or $1,400 private. All tackle, bait, bottled water, and fish cleaning are included.

Recent reports

Operator-side reporting on the Argo is light — the boat publishes its species rotation rather than per-trip catch counts. Summer trips work salmon and striped bass through the Bay mouth and out to the Farallons; winter trips shift to sturgeon inside the Bay; the seasonal crab program runs November and December.
