LA Waterfront Cruises and Sportfishing runs a three-boat fleet out of LA Harbor in San Pedro. The landing publishes fish counts through SoCalFishReports.com and books trips through its own Fishing Reservations system, plus a dedicated booking site for each boat.
Fleet
- Triton, a 60-foot, 20-foot beam boat with a 180-gallon scoop bait tank, side-scan sonar, and 30 bunks, licensed for 41 anglers on day trips and 22 anglers overnight. She ran overnight to 3-day trips out of San Diego for about 30 years before joining the fleet, and now runs local, Catalina, and 1.5-day to 2-day offshore tuna trips. Skipper: Shane Kelly.
- Gail Force, a 55-foot, 18-foot beam boat, Coast Guard certified for up to 45 passengers with a published max load of 40. Built as a THUMS Oil Islands crew boat, she later ran excursions out of 22nd Street Landing before becoming a sportfishing charter boat in 1995. Owner: Gail Force Sportfishing. Skipper: Jared Mallot.
- Sport King, a 65-foot, 20-foot beam boat with a published max load of 49 anglers, running local and Catalina Island trips. Owner: Sport King Sportfishing. Skipper: Anthony Ortiz.
Trip types
The fleet runs half-day and 3/4-day local trips, full-day Catalina Island trips, and Triton's longer 1.5-day and 2-day offshore runs for tuna. Targets include calico bass, sand bass, barracuda, yellowtail, white seabass, spiny lobster, rockfish, whitefish, and lingcod, with Sport King adding sheephead, sculpin, and salmon grouper in winter. Reservations run through each boat's own online booking system.
