Marina Del Rey Sportfishing runs four boats out of Dock 52 at 13759 Fiji Way — daily open-party half-day and three-quarter-day trips year-round, twilight runs May through September, plus seasonal whale watching. With Redondo Canyon less than a mile out, the bottom-fishing menu is the draw.
Fleet
- New Del Mar — 75-foot aluminum-hulled vessel designed and built by Rick Oefinger in 1994. Two half-day departures daily, 7:30 AM–12:00 PM and 12:30 PM–5:00 PM.
- Spitfire — 65-by-22-foot mid-1990s build under skipper Jeremy Maltz, who the operator credits with "over 20 years experience." Three-quarter-day freelance, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM.
- Betty-O — owned and operated by Mike and Patty Reinsch. Three-quarter-day rockcod and bottom trips, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM. The hull, per the operator, has "an over 100 year history of being at sea," and some regulars have fished it for 40-plus years.
- Free Spirit — six-pack private charter.
Trip types
Half-day on the New Del Mar starts at $63.60. Three-quarter-day rockcod on Betty-O is $79.50 adult and $58.30 under 12 (fees included; same rate weekday and weekend on the sampled dates). A three-quarter-day private charter on Spitfire is $2,544 for the full boat. Free Spirit lists $1,200 half-day, $1,600 three-quarter-day, and $2,600 full-day island for the six-pack. Whale watching starts at $53. Tackle rental is $15 cash onboard, and one-day California licenses are sold aboard.
Target species by trip include halibut, yellowtail, calico bass, sand bass, barracuda, and white seabass on freelance runs, with rockfish, lingcod, and whitefish on the bottom boats.
