6 shops — hours, live bait, and directions.

Los Angeles County's six active tackle shops spread across the harbor cities that anchor the county's sportfishing fleet. In San Pedro, 22nd Street Landing Tackle sits inside the 22nd Street Landing operation at 141 W 22nd St — a full-service sportfishing landing running a 9-boat fleet on half-day, 3/4-day, full-day, and overnight departures. The tackle shop opens at 5 AM daily and carries live bait, terminal tackle, and rod rentals. It is the most offshore-focused shop in the county. A few blocks inland, LA Fishing Alliance at 389 W 6th St is a full-service walk-in shop — saltwater and freshwater gear, custom rods, and rod-and-reel repair. In Redondo Beach, Redondo Sportfishing Tackle at 140 International Boardwalk operates inside King Harbor — the landing has run since 1956 — and offers rod rentals, tackle, and fishing licenses alongside the sportfishing fleet, while Just Fishing by Pete on 190th Street is an owner-run shop for tackle, rod-and-reel repair, and custom rods. In Long Beach, LB Fishing Supplies (also known as Caivo Fishing Tackle) at 2260 Long Beach Blvd is a general-with-offshore shop serving anglers on the south end of San Pedro Bay. North in Marina del Rey, Marina del Rey Sportfishing on Fiji Way runs a Santa Monica Bay landing with its own Mona Lisa live-bait dock and dockside tackle rental.
The county fishes two distinct bay systems. Santa Monica Bay, off Redondo Beach and the South Bay, holds calico bass on the King Harbor breakwall year-round, halibut on the sand flats through spring and summer, and barracuda and bonito as the water warms. White seabass are available nearshore in winter and year-round. San Pedro Bay — the working harbor shared by Long Beach and San Pedro — produces calico bass, sand bass, halibut, and mackerel in the harbor and nearshore zone; yellowtail, barracuda, and bonito in the warmer months; and bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna, and dorado on offshore trips in summer and fall. The Horseshoe Kelp, a structure spanning roughly 10 miles just south of San Pedro and along the LA and Long Beach harbor edge, is the county's most consistent year-round ground for calico bass, halibut, yellowtail, and white seabass. Catalina Island — accessible on full-day and overnight trips from San Pedro — adds calico bass, yellowtail, white seabass, and seasonal bluefin in summer.
