Slugg Fishing

Slugg Fishing opened on Poway Road in October 2019, the only true tackle storefront in Poway and the inland north county. Owner Tommy Tran runs a small family operation: the rod-and-reel bench handles repairs in 1-2 weeks (Tran's own published turnaround), with rod-tip work, recondition, color-match, new guides, and custom finishes available alongside standard reel service.

Brand stable bridges saltwater and freshwater — Daiwa, Penn (including Fathom two-speeds and electrics), Phenix, Seaguar, Accurate — which fits the customer mix of long-range tuna chasers and Lake Hodges/Wohlford bass fishermen who'd otherwise drive 25 miles to Shelter Island. Live shiners stocked at the counter.
