About Stardust Sportfishing

Stardust Sportfishing is a family-run operation working out of Santa Barbara Landing at 301 W. Cabrillo Boulevard, at the foot of State Street inside Santa Barbara Harbor. It is the western Channel Islands gateway: Anacapa Island is about 16 nautical miles off the harbor, Santa Cruz Island another 6 miles past that, and Santa Rosa 35 miles out for the multi-day runs.

Fleet

The landing runs a two-boat fleet:

  • Stardust — a 32-passenger open-party boat running half-day, 3/4-day, and full-day Channel Islands trips.
  • Coral Sea — a 25-passenger limited-load boat for full-day island runs and overnight programs.
Trip types

Trips range from local half-days along the Santa Barbara coast to 3/4-day and full-day Channel Islands runs and overnight programs to the outer islands. Reservations and current schedules are handled through Santa Barbara Landing's online booking system.

Grounds
  • Anacapa Island — ~16 nm out, the closest Channel Island. Rockfish, lingcod, and calico bass, with the occasional white seabass on kelp-edge mornings.
  • Santa Cruz Island — ~22 nm. The largest of the islands: calico, seasonal yellowtail, rockfish, and white seabass on the west and north sides.
  • Santa Rosa Island — ~35 nm. The outer-islands run typical of multi-day trips, with bigger yellowtail and white seabass.
  • Santa Barbara Channel oil platforms — Holly, Hondo, Harvest, and others; the legs hold rockfish year-round and make the closer-in option when the islands are blown out.
