Fisherman's Landing sits at 2838 Garrison Street on Point Loma and is home to much of San Diego's long-range fleet. Its founder, William E. "Bill" Poole (1922–2009), was inducted into the California Outdoors Hall of Fame and is credited with having "constructed numerous vessels for San Diego's local and long-range fishing fleets" plus having "hired, trained, and mentored prominent Pacific Coast skippers." By the late 1960s Poole was already a part-owner of Fisherman's Landing, Seaforth Sportfishing, Sun Harbor Marina, and Marina Cortez.
